ExplorARTive is designed for emerging artists to explore, share and critique various media and methods of making art. The aim is to build confidence in developing, critiquing and resolving our art work. The emphasis is on "seriously playful” exploration. The program offers peer led sessions.
Please bring your own art materials, a drink and a snack if required plus cleaning gear for your area. The CAW room is equipped with tables, easels, donkeys, small tables and chairs.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to help set up. We also appreciate help with packing up after the session. We look forward to seeing you in the studio.
Term Two Program
For Term 2 of 2023 we are planning the first 6 weeks as ‘mixed media’ with a focus on one
particular material and/or technique each week.
Tues 2nd May – Charcoal in all its form – large blocks, pencils, stick charcoal, compressed
charcoal, charcoal paint etc. Bring whatever charcoal you have on hand and your preferred
paper etc. I have large blocks, charcoal pencils and paints to share.
Tues 9th May – Graphite – just to compare it with charcoal. Graphite paints are available too.
Tues 16th May – painting without brushes. Using acrylics and inks with non brush tools – e.g.
scrapers of all sorts, palette knives, sticks, any mark making tools.
Tues 23rd May – Pens and inks. Bring what you have including an aluminium can to make
your own pens
Tues 30th May – Gelli plate printing. Activity as before ☺️
Tues 6th June – Collage – another chance to dive into your stash of inspiration and results of
the last few weeks. Make it large and on canvas this time!
