In this workshop participants can expect to learn techniques and tips using Soft Pastel to depict the major elements of the landscape. Amanda will share with you her approach and work through individual problems. We will spend time looking at the major elements and how best to approach them. Participants will supply their own subject material, reflecting their own areas of interest. This is not a “paint by numbers class” and participants are encouraged to develop their own individual styles. Those more experienced Pastelists or participants who have worked with Amanda before can expect more challenging exercises.
A selection of good quality pastels.
A selection of pastel paper suitable for your subjects
A black & a white Charcoal pencil
A cheap, stiff bristled “Bright” (short brittles) paintbrush.
A sketchbook or paper, for tonal studies & taking notes. Pen or Biro
1 Black & 2 grey (one light & one mid toned) markers like Prisma colour, Copic or Promarkers.

A selection of YOUR OWN photographs. Not images copied from the net or the work of another artist. If you don’t have any go out & take some. Ideally covering some major elements of the Landscape. You can cover two topics in the one subject but aim for at least one possibly two paintings per day. Ideally your pictures should contain Grasses, Sky/clouds, trees and water.
