In this workshop, participants will explore the creative possibilities of creating a series of small mixed media artworks. Students will experiment with both wet and dry mediums, focusing on layering, mark making, texture and contrast. Participants will work with materials such as paint, ink, collage, pencil and other mixed media tools - all supplied - to build expressive miniature pieces. Working small encourages freedom and play, allowing ideas to develop intuitively. Suitable for all skill levels, this class is ideal for anyone wanting to explore mixed media processes, loosen up creatively, or generate ideas for larger works. 

About the tutor

Rachel Wykeham (Moodie) is an artist, designer and multifaceted creative based in the NSW Southern Highlands.

She has a degree in Fine Art from UNSW and a background in arts marketing and graphic design. Her artworks are predominantly mixed media and collage and she has exhibited locally and interstate since 2007.

Rachel has published a book on motherhood and creativity called ‘The Artful Mum’. She is also the host of a podcast called ‘Casting the Inner Critic’, interviewing artists, writers, musicians, psychologists and more about their critical internal voices and the ways they overcome them.
