Lyrical Lines is a workshop inspired by the drawings of Rembrandt, Matisse and Ellsworth Kelly, with the quality of line work that makes even the humblest of subject matter spring to life, feel profound and contemporary.

This two-day workshop will first focus on developing a greater sensitivity to the quality of line in your drawings. You will learn how to use a simplicity and economy of line in observational drawings to give shape to form and space. On the second day you will practise expanding the expressive range of your line drawings through both dry and wet media. You will be guided through various techniques to optimise how you use the drawing tools, and your body, to convey energy to your line.

Still life objects will be provided, however, you are invited to bring one or two 3D objects of your own choosing to draw. You will be making many drawings of this same object so make sure that you choose something that can sustain your interest.
