Join multi-award-winning landscape artist Nick Offer for tutored plein-air painting sessions on the edge of Lake Ginninderra, with the lake as your subject.
Suitable for all experience levels, Nick will guide you through the fundamentals of working en plein air, from drawing and composition to mapping out and executing a painting. Explore different drawing and painting media, colour, tone, perspective, light, reflections and atmosphere, along with practical tips and tricks for working outdoors.
Learn how to simplify the landscape, capture changing light and conditions, and work quickly and confidently from observation. Wet weather won’t stop the learning, with studio-based alternatives offering the opportunity to develop studies and explore techniques when conditions aren’t suitable for painting outdoors.

About the tutor
Nick Offer is a multi award winning figurative painter based in Canberra. He has participated extensively in exhibitions and award shows in Australia and abroad. Two of his large works are about to be exhibited at the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona.
Nick’s approach to figuration combines numerous techniques which he has adapted to suit his needs. These include image transfer, silicon paint pouring, stenciling and spray painting as well as more traditional methods of tonal oil painting. He often works from digitally generated collages which form the basis of large multi media canvases. He applies paint to these in such a way as to combine realistic and abstract elements.
