Materials list

Watercolour paints: Art Spectrum, Windsor & Newton, Daniel Smith Artist quality paints are some of the brands from which to choose in the following colours.
Paints come in tube form (wet) or in pans (dry). Either is fine to use. When using tubes/wet paint please squeeze the paint into your palette a few days before, to let it dry.
These colours are great to start with: Lemon Yellow, Cadmium red, Gamboge, Cobalt blue, Permanent Rose, Cerulean Blue, Payne’s Grey, Black and Sepia. (Bring all your colours if you already have more).
Watercolour Palette white with separate wells for each colour, no dinner plates
2 Boards with a smooth waterproof surface to paint on, portable and approx. A3 size.
(Plywood, MDF, clip boards or corflute works well.)
Tea towel or Paper Towel (no hand towels)
Masking tape, 25mm
HB pencils & Kneadable eraser
2 water containers or pots
Brushes: Approx No. 4, 8 and 12 watercolour brushes with fine point. One larger size 1 inch flat brush. (If you can afford the sable brushes are the best, but synthetic brushes are fine to use) take any other brushes you have
1 Stanley knife
Watercolour paper: 300gsm (not lighter) cold press (medium) watercolour paper in loose sheets or blocks (A4 or A3). (Strathmore or Bockingford are recommended for beginners) Saunders and Arches are the best choice. (No Art Spectrum!). You would need approximately 15 Sheets (2 days) of A4/A3 size paper.
One sketch book A4 or A3 in 200gsm paper minimum
Take some of your own photos if you have but we will work mainly with our surroundings
