Discover the art of drawing animals with acclaimed artist and teacher Leigh D Walker in this inspiring 6-week course designed for all levels of experience. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or an experienced artist looking to refine your technique, this course offers a supportive, engaging space to grow your skills.
Drawing is a fundamental part of every artistic practice, and Leigh will guide you through a rich variety of techniques and materials in a relaxed, encouraging environment. You’ll explore new ways of seeing and thinking as you develop confidence in line work, tonal drawing, shading, creating form, subtractive drawing and working with colour.
Using animals as our focus, we’ll study creatures from around the world — from soft fur to shimmering scales to layered feathers — and learn how to translate their unique textures and structures onto paper.
Leigh works closely with each student, offering personalised one-on-one tuition tailored to your skill level and creative style.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a strong foundation in essential drawing skills, a deeper understanding of animal form, and a collection of finished drawings and works-in-progress that reflect your growing artistic confidence.
About the tutor
Leigh D Walker is an artist, living and working in the Canberra region. She specialises in drawing and painting.
