Celebrate and draw elements of the natural world in all its dynamic beauty using this multi-media approach. You’ll learn how to capture the beauty of flowers, foliage and other aspects of the Australian landscape while having fun and learning new skills. This is a chance to grab your charcoal, pens, inks and pencils and explore a whole new way of drawing. You’ll learn how to loosen up and become more relaxed and expressive while achieving an energetic and appealing image that capture’s the freshness of the natural world. Whether you’re a realist or looking for more abstract ways of creating images, this class will help you on that creative journey.

About the tutor

Fiona Boxall is a painter and journaler whose primary subject matter is botanical. She loves to paint flowers, usually but not exclusively, in watercolours. She paints both detailed botanical and more relaxed floral studies, as well as working extensively in her journals and sketchbooks. She has also written a book about her nature journaling experiences paints floral still lifes in acrylics.

Graphite pencils
HB pencil
A couple of ink pens eg Micron
Soft pressed charcoal
Kneadable eraser
Hard eraser
Paper for sketching, at least 110gsm
Two sheets of multi-media or water colour paper, preferably Arches 300gsm Hot Press
Any drawing materials you have at home that you would like to try
