Learn to draw with acclaimed artist and teacher Leigh D Walker.
Drawing is a major foundational skill in all artistic practice. With Leigh’s specialist tuition, you will explore a variety of techniques and materials in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
This 8-week course will introduce students to different ways of seeing, thinking and drawing. Line drawing, tonal drawing, creating form, understanding tonal variations, shading and subtractive drawing are just a few of the techniques we will be covering.
Leigh will work closely with individual students, sharing her expertise in a fun and non-judgmental way.
This course will focus on object and still life drawing and is suitable for absolute beginners and those with a little drawing experience who would like to develop their skills.
There will be plenty of one-on-one tuition.

About the tutor

Leigh D Walker is an artist, living and working in the Canberra region. She specialises in drawing and painting.
Born in South-West Scotland, she studied for her Honours Degree (Drawing & Painting) and her Master of Fine Arts at Edinburgh College of Art/Edinburgh University.
Leigh combines her art practise with exhibiting, teaching, community art and commission work.
The exquisite surfaces of Leigh’s paintings and the intricate beauty of her drawings reflect her ongoing exploration of the craft of drawing and painting. She is fascinated by the building up of layers and the process and alchemy of creating art. Her drawings and paintings are constantly changing, each incarnation creating an imprint of what has gone before.
Being the recipient of numerous awards, Leigh has exhibited widely in the UK and Australia. She has shown in venues such as The Royal Scottish Academy, The National Portrait Gallery, London and The Scottish Gallery. Her work is held in public and private collections throughout the UK, such as The Scottish Equitable Collection and The South Ayrshire Council Collection.
