Illustration and Storytelling Workshop: Etching Fables
10am – 4pm | Saturday 31 May + Sunday 1 June
Come and learn about the world of illustration and storytelling through art in this special etching workshop with artist Maximilian Gosling. Responding to the vivid tale of a chosen fable, learn how images tell stories and how to make etching illustrations to create mystery and delight for the reader.
Etching as an illustrative medium has a rich history, dating back roughly five hundred years in the European printmaking tradition. This two-day workshop will demonstrate how to create line and tone by drawing on a metal plate that is then etched with acid, inked and finally printed on the Megalo presses to bring your story to life on rich printmaking papers.
This workshop will be held Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June. Find bookings and all the details about this workshop here. |

Megalo: 45 years of print
26 April – 6 June
This year Megalo Print Studio is celebrating 45 years of printmaking in Canberra! Megalo Print Studio was founded in 1980 by artists Alison Alder and Colin Little in a poorly ventilated tin shed in the suburb of Ainslie. Since then, Megalo has transformed into what is now the largest open-access printmaking studio in Australia, supporting arts and communities for everyone and keeping the democratic spirit of printmaking alive at the studio.
Featuring 45 works spanning the past 45 years of community arts, the exhibition is drawn from the Megalo archive of from social activism, social projects and artist editioning. The exhibition celebrates the continuing legacy of this extraordinary studio and looks towards the next chapter in our history together to show that far from extinct, print lives at Megalo.
Exhibition Opening:
6pm, Wednesday 30 April
Come and celebrate our 45th year with a slice of cake, to show that print lives on Ngunnawal/Ngunawal and Ngambri Country at Megalo.
The exhibition runs 26 April to 6 June.
Megalo is open 9:30 – 5 // Tuesday – Saturday. |
