ABOUT THE GRANT
Mavis Hall was a longstanding and active member of CAW. She died on 29 July 2017 and named CAW as one of the beneficiaries of her estate. The CAW Trust, set up to administer the scholarship, must use the interest generated from the capital for payment of the scholarship.

Lodgment Process
● Applications are loged via a form on this webpage (only visible during the logdement period)
● The application period opens mid July and will closes on 31 August.
● All applications will be assessed by a selection panel in September.
● The award recipients will be advised of the outcome and the winner will be announced at the Annual General Meeting in October.
● The grant funds will be transferred in early November.
● The Grant period will commence on November and run for a 15-month period.
Purposes
Purposes for which the Grant can be used include, but are not limited to:
● attending art workshops, academic art education programs nationallyor internationally;
● undertaking a national or international tour of significant artinstallations, institutions or organisations;
● working with an art mentor;
● mounting an exhibition of artwork including covering the costs offraming and hanging;
● purchasing art materials;
● renting studio space;
● any other relevant purpose reasonably connected to fostering the recipient’s advancement in any area of art deemed worthy by the Selection Panel and Trustees of the Mavis Hall CAW Trust.
Eligibility
A person is eligible to apply who:
● Is an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holds Permanent Residence Status in Australia.
● Is a member of Canberra Art Workshop (CAW) at the time of making application to receive the Mavis Hall CAW Trust Grant.
● Has been a member of CAW for a full 12 months before making application to receive the Mavis Hall CAW Trust Grant and is able to demonstrate an active history of participation in CAW activities.
● If a previous recipient of the Mavis Hall CAW Trust Grant, has fulfilled all reporting requirements.
Payment & Acquittal
● The grant will be paid to the award recipient on 5 November 2024.
● The recipient will be required to provide a 10-month interim report to the Trustees in September 2025 detailing how they have benefited from the grant monies to date and a final report by 1 February 2026, detailing how the grant has been of benefit.
● The recipient will also be asked to provide a high resolution image of an artwork created as a result of the grant monies to be exhibited on the CAW website. An artwork may also be exhibited in the next CAW Members’ Exhibition.

Canberra Art Workshop – objectives
Acting according to its Constitution, the CAW strives to:
● Promote, foster and extend by all available means interest in and pursuit of the visual arts.
● Hold exhibitions from time to time at the discretion of the CAW Board.
● Arrange a variety of learning experiences in the visual arts through classes, seminars, forums, workshops, participation in the promotion and management of these activities, and other activities.
Objectives of the Mavis Hall Trust Grant
In line with the CAW Constitutional objectives the ‘Mavis Hall CAW Trust Grant’ seeks to:
• Benefit the recipient for further study or purchase of materials or any expenses reasonably connected to further progress the recipient’s advancement in any area of Art.
• Benefit the CAW through the recipient’s ongoing involvement in the Association because of the Grant.
