This year’s committee has been actively developing a workshop program that adds opportunity and value to your membership. It is important that CAW also continues to provide an opportunity for members to exhibit their work. Our Exhibition committee has now secured an offsite exhibition space at The Artworks Gallery, Townshend St, Phillip. The exhibition will run for three weeks, September–October. With good walk by traffic the gallery can accommodate around 70 paintings, is also staffed and has credit card facilities.  Entry fee will be $25 per painting. This will not cover the cost of gallery hire, which will have to be subsidised by CAW in order to keep entry fees to a minimum. There will be no additional commission on works sold.

So start to think about preparing your work for our Spring exhibition. Further details and entry forms will be available shortly.

Yes, its been a long time in development but we are now close to launching our new improved website. The new site will have much better capacity, broader bandwidth to carry video, larger drop down menu, online payment access, large format gallery image display and member feedback interface. Your valued opinions, suggestions and concerns can be aired and shared via the site and will provide the committee with a better ability to respond to your needs.

Our fantastic communications manager, Lori Smith, has been doing a simply outstanding job in keeping you as informed as possible via website/FB/flyers/posters. We hope our new web design will give you an even greater connection to your Canberra Art Workshop.

A CAW gift voucher makes a great present! Gift vouchers will be available shortly and can be purchased to a nominated value.

We receive regular enquiry via the website from people wishing to give an art experience gift, whether it be annual membership to access a workgroup, an art course, or special workshop or event. Further details on how to purchase gift vouchers and an explanatory poster plus website instructions will be forthcoming.

We have a group of members testing various replacement stackable chair options. The purchase of better chairs was approved by last year’s committee and has not yet been actioned.  The feedback that we have received so far is that unpadded plastic chairs, including the pre-purchased sample and the orange ones currently being bought by M16 lack padding and are cold in winter.

Watch this space for progress.

We are placing a clip board at the CAW entrance desk for members to note maintenance issues that may need to be addressed. Please help us to keep our studio in good order by drawing issues to our attention.
