First Nations Public Art Opportunity
The ACT Government is seeking Expression of Interest from First Nations artists to develop a permanent public artwork for the new CIT Yurauna at Bruce. This opportunity is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from the ACT region. Application close Sunday 27 April 2025. School Holiday Claymation Creations Workshop
Calling all future filmmakers! In this exciting 2-day workshop led by stop-motion animation experts Eleanor and Giovanni, kids will learn everything they need to know to get started on their animation and filmmaking journey. Bodies Beyond the Skin by Isabella Capezio at Platform
Bodies Beyond the Skin interrogates how landscape photography has upheld hierarchical, masculinist assumptions and seeks to problematise this schema by using ‘queer’ and camp methodologies to disrupt colonial frameworks. Canberra Glassworks Exhibitions Celebrating Australian Design and Local Making
This dual exhibition celebrates the power of glass as a material for contemporary design while highlighting a vital national agenda: the importance of supporting Australian-made, investing in micro-manufacturing, and nurturing the skills and infrastructure needed to keep exceptional design and production onshore. Currently showing at Canberra Glassworks until 26 May 2025.
Art Club at Lil Mama’s Studio
Art Cub is a creative space open to all ages and skill levels. Hosted at Lil Mama’s in Kingston on the third Thursday of each month, each session is taught by a different artist. The next session on Thursday 17 April between 7:00pm – 9:00pm will be an exploration of colour. There is a small ticket price which covers materials for the night as attendees do not need to bring any art supplies with them. More information and bookings via Humanitix.
Nature Moves by Elizabeth Cameron Dalman book launch
Come along to a special dance event celebrating Elizabeth Cameron Dalman’s book Nature Moves at 2:00pm on Sunday 27 April 2025 in Green Square, Kingston. Nature Moves documents some of Elizabeth’s 60 years of professional dance practice. A dance performance by Vivienne Rogis and Peng Hsiao-yin will be followed by an address by Dr Cathy Adamek, director of Ausdance ACT. This is a free event. Porcelain War at National Film and Sound Archive
Amidst the chaos and destruction of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Porcelain War follows three artists as they defiantly find inspiration and beauty defending their culture and their country.
