Minister’s Creative Council Recruitment

The Minister’s Creative Council is a group of creative people who use their unique perspective and expertise to contribute to positive discussion and practical advice on the arts in Canberra. The Council reports to the Minister for Business, Arts and Creative Industries on relevant current issues and strategic matters, and recommend ideas, initiatives or specific action about the arts, culture and creative sector in the ACT.

Applications are currently open for a number of positions on the Council, including Members, Chair and Deputy Chair. Appointments will be for a two-year period. Applications close Friday 4 July 2025.

Fluent in a second language and enjoy storytelling?

Libraries ACT are on the lookout for Bi-lingual Story Time presenters who are fluent in Mandarin, Spanish, Vietnamese, Nepali and Arabic.

Bi-lingual Story Time is a valued library service supporting Canberra’s culturally and linguistically diverse community. This program targets local families with young children and promotes the sharing of language and culture, while fostering bilingualism, which contributes to improved literacy, cultural understanding, and global awareness.

The Request for Quotation is open until 1 July 2025. For more information on the requirements and how to apply, visit the Libraries ACT website.

Emerging Playwright Commission open for applications

Applications are open now for Canberra Youth Theatre’s Emerging Playwright Commission 2025. This nationwide commission offers $17,400 to an emerging playwright aged 16 – 35 to create a new, full-length work for performers aged 7 – 25. Two other finalists will also receive $1,500 each to support their writing practice.

This opportunity is designed to help launch the careers of talented writers who are ready to take the next step – those who are underway on their playwriting journey, perhaps with a production or two under their belt, but haven’t yet been professionally produced by a major theatre company.

Applications close on Monday 7 July 2025 at 9:00am. For information and to apply, see the Canberra Youth Theatre website.
