About Canberra Art Workshop

Canberra Art Workshop is a not-for-profit, member-driven community arts organisation providing opportunities for people of all ages and experience levels to learn, create and connect through art.

Our program includes courses, workshops, art groups and other creative activities, delivered across M16 Artspace in Griffith and Belco Arts in Belconnen.

CAW is governed by a volunteer Board, which works with the Events Team and other volunteers to support the organisation’s ongoing development, financial sustainability and strong creative community.

About the roles

Board members contribute to the strategic governance and future direction of CAW. This includes:

  • Supporting the organisation’s purpose, values and strategic direction

  • Participating in Board meetings and decision-making

  • Contributing to good governance and financial oversight

  • Supporting the development and sustainability of CAW

  • Representing the interests of CAW members

  • Contributing skills, knowledge and ideas to the organisation

Board members are expected to attend Board meetings, participate in planning and contribute actively to the work of the Board.

Who we are looking for

We welcome expressions of interest from CAW members who are interested in contributing to the organisation and its future.

We are particularly interested in people who can bring skills or experience in areas such as:

  • Governance and strategic planning

  • Finance and accounting

  • Marketing and communications

  • Fundraising and sponsorship

  • Arts administration

  • Community engagement

  • Legal, HR or business experience

Previous Board experience is not essential. We welcome members from a range of backgrounds and encourage anyone with an interest in supporting CAW to consider nominating.

Being a Board member is an opportunity to contribute your skills and ideas, develop your governance experience and help shape the future of Canberra Art Workshop.

Board Member Commitment

Board positions are voluntary. Members are expected to attend scheduled Board meetings, participate in planning and governance discussions, and contribute to the ongoing work of the organisation.
