Look with fresh eyes at the subject matter and be aware of the great outbursts of creativity the world of the visual arts has seen over the last century.
DAY ONE looks at Henri Matisse and his use of what is called saturated colour and pattern. From this study of his methods, several drawings will be undertaken leading to a painting that will stress both colour and pattern.
DAY TWO looks at the unique work of Godfrey Miller and his use of ruled line & how he fractures objects into facets of myriad shapes and jewel like colours. A drawing will lead on to several small paintings and if time allows, a large painting. Working in your choice of acrylic or oil.
Michael Winters is a very well-known Australian artist who was born in Frankston, Victoria. He studied fine art (painting) at Caulfield Institute of Technology from 1959-1963. Michael has exhibited widely in Australia and throughout Europe.
He has for many years divided his life between his spiritual home on the Greek island of Leros and his studio in Canberra. In 2007, he set up a printmaking studio on Leros. Michael has had a long and distinguished exhibiting career both in Australia and overseas. Another part of Michael’s creative activities is teaching. Michael bases his classes around the works of chosen artists and uses them as ‘creative role models’.
